The 44-year-old singer shared his story during an appearance on Cam Newton’s Funky Friday podcast on July 25, clearing the air about what really happened on that fateful night in 2012.
According to People, the One Wish singer confirmed he was dating Houston at the time of her death, and they had plans to make their relationship public at Clive Davis’s event the following day. However, their plans were cut short when Houston was found dead in her hotel room on February 11, 2012, just one day before the Grammy Awards.
