Ravindra Jain's music was timeless, but he was given limited chances

Tu Jo Mere Sur Mein Sur Mila De… Sooraj Barjatya’s Rajshri Films benefited munificently from Ravindra Jain’s melodies. Their association started with Saudagar in 1973 which featured the magnificently melodious Tera Mera Saath Rahe by Lata Mangeshkar. After Saudagar, Jain and Rajshri couldn’t afford Lataji.

But her fans and the fans Rajshri’s melodies have never stopped wondering what Ravindra Jain’s songs in Rajshri’s Geet Gaata Chal, Paheli, Anhkiyon Ke Jharokhon Se, Tapasya and Chit Chor would have sounded like had Lataji had sung Shyam Teri Bansi, Ankhiyon Ke Jharonkhon Se, Do Panchhi Do Tinke and Jab Deep Jale Aana.
