Ravens QB Lamar Jackson reveals what happened on play where referee tripped him in end zone

The Baltimore Ravens rode an outstanding performance by quarterback Lamar Jackson and their defense to a 33-19 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 16 of the 2023 NFL season. It marked their arrival as the best team in the NFL and showed the world what they’re capable of.

“The ref fell. He fell, but he came back and apologized. He was like, ‘My bad,’ but it’s all good. Those two points helped [the San Francisco 49ers] out a lot. I knew I was going to get away. I know Chase [Young] knows I was going to get away, too. Hats off to Chase. He did what he was supposed to do.”

Early in the game, Jackson was pressured by San Francisco defensive lineman Chase Young and ran into the end zone, where he was tripped up by a referee, resulting in a safety. Jackson explained what happened in the play and said he would have escaped Young had the referee not been there.
