The Baltimore Ravens brought in veteran running back Kenyan Drake right before the 2022 season began as a free agent addition. He has seen big playing time in big moments, putting his talent on display over the course of the year so far.
On Wednesday, Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson was asked about his chemistry with Drake on RPO plays. The signal caller said that the chemistry is good, but he mentions that it could be better, saying there are minor hiccups in practice. However, he said that Drake will keep doing what he’s doing, and the rest of the team will keep doing it as well.
“I feel like it’s good, but it can be better. We have little hiccups in practice, and then we talk about it and stuff like that. He’s doing what he’s been doing at other teams and when he was in college and stuff like that. Our team has to keep staying focused and keep staying locked in, taking it one game at a time and one play at a time. Kenyan [Drake] is going to keep doing what he’s doing, and the rest of us as well.”
Drake has rushed 73 times for 344 yards and three touchdowns on the year. Since he was brought in just days before the season began, he didn’t have a full offseason to work with Jackson and the offense on the nuances of the scheme. He’s been learning as he goes, and has come on strong in recent weeks. However, there is still room for improvement with his chemistry with Jackson on RPO’s according to the quarterback, meaning he can be even better as the year goes on.
