The Ravens have several pressing needs this off-season, but one critical position to watch will be running back, where three players (Melvin Gordon, J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards) could all move on in free agency.
Baltimore could add a player in the draft, but if they want to make a splashy or value signing at the start of next week’s free-agent period, GM Eric DeCosta has plenty of big-named options to target.
ESPN’s Jordan Raanan has talked to scouts and executives who believe the Ravens are serious contenders to land New York Giants star Saquon Barkley.
The Los Angeles Chargers, Baltimore Ravens and Chicago Bears are believed to be serious suitors. The rival Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys have interest, but aren’t expected to reach Barkley’s price point. Still, they shouldn’t be completely counted out because they are, at the very least, involved in the running back market.
Barkley amassed 962 rushing yards and six touchdowns last year while adding 280 receiving yards and four scores.
He’d become even more dangerous in an offense featuring MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson, Zay Flowers, Mark Andrews, and Rashod Bateman.
