The Baltimore Ravens re-signed defensive end Calais Campbell to a two-year deal after he spent some time mulling over his options as a free agent. By bringing back Campbell, it gives Baltimore a veteran leader on defense that is familiar with the way the things do things. Having the veteran back is also crucial for the development of the young talent on the team, as he is a phenomenal leader and teacher of the game.
When asked about his decision to return to Baltimore, Campbell said that he knew he was likely going to return to the Ravens, but that it’s smart to weigh his options. He also discussed what the organization represents and who they are, praising the franchise in multiple ways.

“I knew it was likely to be here. Obviously, I think it’s just smart to always weigh your options and take your time, but I knew when I was making a decision that Baltimore was a great place for me. This organization, and what it represents, who they are, it fits right in line with who I am, and just knowing the guys … My family loves it here. It was always likely to be here.”
Any team can never have enough veteran leaders on defense that can bring out the best of his teammates and Campbell does that for the Ravens. He’ll look to have another solid season with the team in purple and black, both as a player and as a leader.
