The Baltimore Ravens made a change at defensive coordinator early in their 2022 offseason as they parted ways with Don Martindale and replaced him with now-former University of Michigan defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald. Many are excited about the hiring of Macdonald, as big things are expected out of him despite being the youngest defensive coordinator in the NFL.
During his introductory press conference, Macdonald was asked about how often he watched Baltimore play during his time at the University. He ended up saying that the hours of 1pm to 4pm weren’t productive for Michigan football.
“Well, the hours of 1 to 4 [p.m.] on Sundays were not very productive for Michigan football (laughter), so I was right there with them. As long as we could possibly do it, we were watching every play, living and dying on every play. It’s incredible what happened; some of the endings, you’re like, ‘Oh my God. Like, how is this even possible?’ But in terms of the roster, that’s what we’re evaluating right now. There’s going [to be] a lot of new faces, I’m assuming, and it’s just an ongoing process. But the guys we have in place, they’re great players, they’ve got a great track record, [and] I’m excited to work with them.”
Macdonald also expressed his opinion on the roster that he’s inheriting, and said that he’s evaluating things. However, he mentioned that there are great players in place, and that he’s excited to work with them. Macdonald should be able to get the most out of his unit, but it will take a lot of hard work and preparation, something that he looks ready to do.
