Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes was the best player at the World Cup according to SofaScore's ratings system.
According to the data company, SofaScore's ratings are determined by a 'sophisticated algorithm' that brings together hundreds of statistics which quantify a player's performance. In a tweet after the World Cup final, SofaScore claimed that Fernandes scored at least an 8.1 statistical rating in every match which he played.
A break down of the Portuguese star's statistics show that he scored two goals, grabbed three assists, created five big chances and managed an impressive 2.25 key passes per game. Unfortunately for Fernandes, despite these stats his Portugal team did not make it past the quarter-finals.

Fernandes' team were undone by Morocco in the last eight leading to their opposition becoming the first African nation to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup. FIFA did not agree with SofaScore's verdict of the Player of the Tournament after opting to give the Golden Ball to Argentina's Lionel Messi.
Messi inspired his nation to their first World Cup since 1986 in a thrilling final in Lusail against France on Sunday. Argentina were 2-0 up at the break thanks to a Messi penalty and a goal for former United man Angel Di Maria.
However, Kylian Mbappe scored twice inside 90 seconds to take the game to extra time. Messi thought he had won the crown for his country when he netted during the extra 30 minutes but Mbappe was on hand once again to score from 12 yards to take the match to a shootout.
Argentina would finally see off their European opponents 4-2 on penalties with Gonzalo Montiel scoring the all important spot kick. The result means that Lisandro Martinez is the only United player coming back to Carrington with a World Cup winners' medal.
