Rate the Newcastle United players at Goodison Park after Everton defeat

Newcastle United suffered a late sucker punch from Alex Iwobi to condemn the Magpies to back to back defeats for the first time in 2022. Eddie Howe's side were in complete control with an assured first-half performance, but struggled to make an impact on the game in a stop-start second-half.

Joe Willock had the Toon's best chance of the game in the second-half, a tame effort which was dealt with easily by Asmir Begovic. Chris Wood saw his weak header saved by the Toffees shot stopper, whilst also sending a header over the bar inside the opening 45 minutes.

Even when the hosts' were reduced to ten men, Newcastle couldn't find a breakthrough in a scrappy affair. The result doesn't change the relegation picture in great detail, with the Magpies still nine points clear of the drop.
