Newcastle United suffered a third Premier League defeat in a row as they were demolished 5-1 by Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon. The Magpies had taken the lead six minutes before the break courtesy of Fabian Schar's free kick but were pegged back just moments later through a Ben Davies header.
Eddie Howe's side then capitulated in the second half as Heung-min Son and Matt Doherty put the game out of sight within just 10 minutes of the restart. But the pain did not end there, though, for Newcastle as Emerson Royal and Steven Bergwijn compounded a miserable afternoon in North London for the Magpies.
Thankfully after the rest of the weekend's results the defeat has not done too much damage, with Newcastle sat nine points above the bottom three. It also brings an end to three successive games on the road for the Magpies following matches with Chelsea and Everton before the international break, where they also came up empty handed.
