PlayStation has officially opened pre-registration for "Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble," a free-to-play multiplayer hero shooter that brings the beloved franchise to mobile devices for the first time.
The game is being developed by Oh Bibi in collaboration with PlayStation Studios and Insomniac Games, delivering the latest entry to the iconic "Ratchet & Clank" franchise after five years since its last mainline release.
PlayStation Unveils Free-to-Play Multiplayer 'Ratchet & Clank'
Stanislas Dewavrin, CEO of Oh Bibi, shared the announcement through the official PlayStation Blog, revealing that the game had already gone through regional soft launches in Canada, the Nordics, France, and Asia.
After a testing phase shaped by player feedback, "Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble" is now moving toward a full global release, with pre-registration marking the first step in that rollout.
The story centers on Captain Qwark, who creates a combat simulation meant to find the next generation of Galactic Rangers.
Since Qwark is running the show, Dewavrin noted that anything can happen once players step into the arena, keeping the franchise's signature humor intact even in its new mobile format.
'Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble': What to Expect
Players will choose from a lineup of 12 heroes available at launch, each bringing their own abilities, weapons, and cosmetics to the fight.
According to Dewavrin, the roster includes brand new characters never seen before in the series, including new Lombaxes designed in direct collaboration with Insomniac Games, drawing on insight from some of the original developers behind the franchise's most iconic titles.
Combat plays out through real-time PvP arena battles, layered with dynamic PvE elements that add extra variety to matches.
At launch, the game will include six distinct modes, ranging from fast-paced team PvP and PvE waves of enemies to a battle royale-inspired mode and a football-themed mode where every goal comes packed with extra firepower.
Dewavrin emphasized that the goal throughout development was to preserve the humor, characters, and inventive weaponry that have defined "Ratchet & Clank" for more than two decades while reshaping the action specifically for fast-paced mobile play.
When Is 'Ratchet & Clank's' Mobile Game Coming?
While PlayStation has not confirmed an exact release date, pre-registration is open now at the game's official website, kicking off a community rewards campaign tied to global pre-registration milestones.
As more players sign up, additional in-game rewards unlock for everyone, including Qredits, Reebos, and Raritanium to give players a head start once the game launches.
The campaign's biggest reward is an exclusive Clank Suit skin for the character Widget, which will be unlockable for all players if the final community milestone is reached before launch.
All pre-registration rewards will be delivered to players' in-game mailboxes within 30 days of the official global release, provided they have completed the tutorial.
PlayStation says the development team is continuing to polish the game and expand its content ahead of launch, with more updates expected in the coming months.
