Kilmarnock residents have been left scratching their heads after someone dumped hundreds of rolls in a park.
Dumped next to the Kay Park pond, the bizarre incident this weekend has left locals stunned.
The bread was discovered on Saturday morning with councillors Graham Boyd and Barry Douglas raising the alarm to the local authority's clean-up crew.
While the person who dumped the bread by the pond presumably left the snack for the birds, it has been highlighted that bread is 'dangerous' for birds.
The Kay Park has also been a hotspot for rats in recent years and concerns have been raised that the mass dumping of rolls could encourage more rodents to scurry to the park.
Councillor Graham Boys posted on Facebook: "It’s come to my attention that someone is dumping mounds of rolls by the Kay Park Pond.
"This is not on, the birds at the pond should not be feeding on bread and it’s only a matter of time until rats reappear.
"If this is a baker or shopkeeper dumping out of date rolls, this has to stop now! Corporate Enforcement will be made aware and will take appropriate action.
"Any resident or park user who sees this happening please let your Councillor(s) know."
While Barry Douglas added: "Myself and Councillor Graham Boyd have been made aware of a lot of rolls dumped at the Kay Park pond.
"Why anyone would think this is acceptable is beyond me? First of all bread is dangerous for the birds don’t feed them it and it’s little wonder we have a rat problem in the pond when the supply of food is so plentiful.
"If you see anyone dumping anything at the Kay Park (or anywhere else) please report it to East Ayrshire Corporate Enforcement."
