Rare cat disease that causes skin-blisters and lesions in humans discovered in UK

For the first time a rare infectious disease found in cats has been detected in the UK. The fungal infection causes skin blisters in humans, with up to three British citizens being affected by the infection, which has only previously been found in South America.

The three people affected by Sporotrichosis are not known, but it is thought that a mother, her daughter and a vet were all scratched by an infected cat. They have all experienced wounds and ulcers on their hands, wrist and arms, according to a report on the MailOnline.

Sporotrichosis has been described as the rose handler's disease, as it affects the skin, lungs, bone and joints. It can also be widespread, but in most cases, only the skin or tissues underneath the skin are affected reports The Daily Express.
