A rare 50p coin has sold for 320 times its face value on eBay.
The coin was released in 2016, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Beatrix Potter. Designed by Emma Noble, the coin includes elements that celebrate Beatrix as the artist behind some of the best-loved characters in children’s literature along with the nostalgic font used for the inscription.
The eBay seller initially put the item, listed as "Rare 2016 Royal Mint 150th Anniversary Of Beatrix Potter Silver Proof 50p Coin" up with a starting price of 99p.

But after a 19-way bidding war, the price quickly jumped up. The final price was £160, plus £31.27 for expedited delivery to the United States.
The coins were sold for £55 in 2016, with them now out of stock on the Royal Mint website. Around 7,750 of the silver proof coins are thought to have been minted, and each coin came with a booklet on the life of Beatrix Potter.
If you find a Beatrix Potter 2016 50p in your change though, don't get too excited. The Royal Mint released almost 7 million Beatrix Potter 50ps - made from copper and nickel - into circulation that year, and as you might imagine from the volume of coins, these ones are not worth much.
Change checking website Coin Hunter values these coins at around £1.50.
