Rare 50p coin featuring Battle of Hastings sold for £100,000 by Scottish eBay seller

eBay Harold II Brexit Falkirk Change Checker European Union

One lucky coin collector in Scotland has received a fortune after listing a rare 50p coin on eBay and fetching a huge £100,000 for it.

The Battle of Hastings 50p coin was listed on eBay by a seller in Falkirk, and is one of 6.7 million that are currently in circulation. After receiving just one bid, the seller cashed in the huge sum of money on December 11, 2022.

While it's not clear whether the coin had entered circulation - which can decrease the value - photos supplied on the online marketplace show scratches and signs of wear.
