In a tragic incident at Scott's 2021 Astroworld Festival in Houston, ten individuals lost their lives due to a crowd surge. Attendees were packed tightly, leading to difficulties in breathing and movement. The victims, aged between 9 and 27, died from compression asphyxia, a condition likened to being crushed by a car.
Lawsuits filed by the victims' lawyers alleged that negligent planning and a disregard for capacity and safety contributed to the deaths and injuries at the concert. Scott, along with promoter Live Nation and other parties named in the lawsuits, denied these claims, emphasizing that safety was their top priority and that the incident was unforeseeable.
The final lawsuit related to the Astroworld tragedy was settled last month. Following a police investigation, a grand jury decided not to indict Scott and five others associated with the festival.
