French authorities have confirmed that rapper Travis Scott has been taken into custody following an alleged attack on a security guard at the prestigious George V hotel. The incident occurred on August 9, 2024, when police officers were called to the hotel and arrested Scott for assaulting a security guard. The Paris prosecutor's office stated that the altercation took place after the guard intervened to separate Scott from his bodyguard.
The Paris public prosecutor’s office has referred the case to the 1st district of the judicial police, and a criminal investigation into the violence against the guard has been initiated. Sources close to the incident reported that Scott appeared to be heavily intoxicated and uncooperative, refusing to take a breathalyzer test.
Scott, a 10-time Grammy winner, was previously arrested in Miami for disorderly intoxication and trespassing just two months ago. He was released on bond after paying fines related to the charges. His attorney described the Miami incident as a misunderstanding.
Earlier on the day of the Paris arrest, Scott had attended a men's Olympics basketball semifinal, where he witnessed the French team's victory over Germany. Scott later posted about the game on social media, describing it as 'wild.' As of now, Scott has not issued a statement regarding the Paris arrest, and his team has not responded to requests for comment.
