Rapper Half Ounce was shot and killed as he walked home in LA on Monday evening, his family has told local news media.
The 32-year-old artist, born Latauriisha O'Brien, had been walking with a friend at around 11.30pm in Koreatown when an SUV pulled up and began firing, Fox LA reported.
The LA Police Department reported receiving "numerous radio calls of shots fired, with a man screaming, in the 700 block of South New Hampshire Avenue".
According to authorities, he had been on the phone with his pregnant wife at the time, who had heard the gunshots and ran to the scene.
He had been a dad to an eight-year-old daughter, two-year-old son and nine-month-old son.
No arrests have been made.
It comes less than a month after rapper PnB Rock was killed at the age of 30 after being shot while at a restaurant with his girlfriend.
The star, best known for his tune Selfish, was pronounced dead at hospital in Los Angeles after being rushed in for emergency treatment following the incident.
The rapper from Philadelphia was eating at a Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles restaurant in the south of the city when a shooting took place, law enforcement officers told LA Times.
Sources told the publication the star, whose real name is Rakim Allen, was targeted for his jewellery. His partner had reportedly posted an earlier snap of himself wearing his accessories in a location-tagged photo on Instagram. The image has since been deleted.
