Rapist punished by Irish prison chiefs after sending sick card to woman he abused as a child

Child rapist Michael Moloney has been punished by prison bosses after a letter was sent to his victim in the post.

The Irish Mirror has learned that sicko Moloney, 44, who was further jailed last week for abusing another stepdaughter, was officially punished by prison bosses following an incident in which an Easter card was sent to one of his victims Jenni Prunty.

“It was really creepy. It said ‘I miss you’ in it and ‘I can’t wait to hear back from you’,” Jenni said.

Moloney, who we revealed received a further six years on his sentence for abusing his stepdaughter from another marriage – Chloe Shinnors – was given a P19 form by the Irish Prison Service.

A P19, which is handed down after a prisoner admits to or is found to have committed wrongdoing behind bars, sees them having certain privileges, such as phone calls to loved ones and visiting hours, curtailed.

Separately, gardai have confirmed to this paper the sending of the letter to Ms Prunty is under their investigation.

Jenni revealed she received the letter, which contained an Easter card, sometime in May – and it contained a very personal message which read: “To Jenni. I hope you’re keeping well. How’s your mother, how’s all your relations. I hope to hear back from you soon. I miss you and love you.”

Jenni reported the matter to gardai in Newcastlewest — and the Irish Prison Service was also notified.

“There was an Easter bunny on it and that little note. They made a bit of an effort and put a lot of thought into it. It just makes me so angry,” Jenni said.

Moloney is barred for life from contacting Jennifer after receiving a seven-and-a-half-year sentence in 2018 for abusing and raping her when she was just a child in the years 2009 and 2010.

Jenni spoke to this paper today after Chloe Shinnors bravely waived her anonymity yesterday following Moloney’s conviction and sentencing for abusing her.

“I’m actually delighted for him and now she finally has some closure. He deserves it because he ruined another girl’s life as well,” Jenni said.

Chloe came forward to gardai six years ago after learning that Jenni – who was Moloney’s other stepdaughter from a separate marriage – had already done so.

Jenni said she wasn’t surprised to learn that Moloney had abused another girl.

“I’m not surprised because he’s actually an animal. But it was a shock to hear that it was her. I know the family and I’ve become friends with her and her family since because we’ve kind of shared the same story.

“He followed a pattern. She was his stepdaughter too. It just goes to show how much of an animal he actually was,” she said.

Jenni says her heart now goes out to Chloe, and she hopes she can learn to cope with what she went through, as she says it’s been a long road for her.

“I went to Australia for two years and I left it be. Then I later ended up in a psychiatric unit for two months.

“But I go to counselling and I have my own family and job now. I just wish that rather than putting it into the back of my mind that I should have dealt with it then and there.”
