However, Hindustan Times reached out to sources close to the production, who clarified that the claim was a misunderstanding.
The controversy originated from a Reddit post showing a screengrab of the film’s end credits. It listed three vans under the name of Ranveer’s character, Hamza—“Hamza van,” “Hamza staff van,” and “Hamza normal van.” This led some viewers to assume the production had provided multiple vanity vans for the star.
A production insider explained that the term “van” in the credits referred to regular vehicles, not vanity vans. These vans were used during the Thailand shoot schedule to transport the cast, crew, and equipment across multiple locations in Bangkok. “One vanity and two Thai vans were deployed for the actor, staff, luggage, and travel around locations,” the source said. The Bangkok schedule involved extensive outdoor shoots and frequent citywide movement, making logistical support essential.
Ranveer’s demanding schedule
The source further highlighted that Ranveer’s intensive schedule required on-set support. Dhurandhar and its sequel, initially planned as a single film but later split due to runtime, demanded physical transformations from the actor. Ranveer reportedly shed 15 kg and gained 25 kg within months or even days while shooting for 12–14 hours a day. “For drastic body transformations, actors sometimes need a gym, a private chef, or both on set. He wasn’t given anything extra—just what the shoot required,” the source added.
