Another week down, another week to evaluate the performances of the multiple rookie starting quarterbacks in the league. We once again saw a mixed bag from all the rookies.
Let’s take a look at each rookie and rank their Week 16 performances from best to worst:
1. Bryce Young, QB, Carolina Panthers
The number one overall pick finally claims the top spot on the weekly rankings after a complete breakout game. Although Carolina ultimately lost the game none of the blame can be placed on the shoulders of Young who showed all the potential that has been dormant this season. With over 300 yards and a paid of touchdowns to put the Panthers in a game winning position, Young has earned the top spot this week and is starting to turn the corner in his young career.
2. Aidan O'Connell, QB, Las Vegas Raiders
While it wasn’t exactly the most impressive outing stats wise given O’Connell only threw for 62 yards on the day, he still managed to keep the ball out of his opponent’s hand and manage a game against one of the best teams in the NFL. O’Connell is coming off a monster game the week before so it was a little unrealistic to project that again. O’Connell looks like the potential answer at the position and can prove that over these final two games.
3. Tommy DeVito, QB, New York Giants
Unfortunately the legend of DeVito might have closed it’s chapter for this season as the New York Giants’ offense ultimately looked helpless against the Philadelphia Eagles. As a consequence of on an offensive dud DeVito was benched at halftime for Tyrod Taylor, who juiced the offense and put them back in the game. It will be interesting to see who is named the starter for the rest of the season, but either way DeVito is hoping for a better outing the next time he gets a shot.
