It’s time for us to get into the month of January and see what’s out there for us at the multiplex and at home on streaming with new movie options.
As we did last month, we’ve broken down what movies are coming out this month that catch our attention. Promising options range from a new movie from DreamWorks Animation to a new spy comedy from director Matthew Vaughn.
We’ve also got a new Marvel movie, a Bob Marley biopic and the latest films from Ethan Coen and Tyler Perry.

Argylle
The latest spy caper from Matthew Vaughn (the Kingsmen movies) pits Bryce Dallas Howard and Sam Rockwell against a mystery so hidden that the very nature of who the real Agent Argylle is kept a major secret.

Orion and the Dark
Oscar-winning screenwriter Charlie Kaufman (Adaptation) wrote this DreamWorks Animated film, which looks like Inside Out for kids who are afraid of the dark (voiced by Paul Walter Hauser).

The Tiger's Apprentice
This animated adventure features an impressive voice cast of Henry Golding, Lucy Liu, Bowen Yang, Jo Koy, Sandra Oh and Michelle Yeoh.

Lisa Frankenstein
Zelda Williams (daughter of the late, great Robin Williams) directs this 1980s horror twist on the Frankenstein story, starring Kathryn Newton and Cole Sprouse.

Dune (re-release)
Warner Bros. is re-releasing the hit 2021 film Dune in theaters for a weeklong engagement ahead of March’s hotly anticipated Dune: Part Two. Let the spice flow!

Madame Web
Dakota Johnson makes her Marvel debut in this Sony Spider-Man spinoff Madame Web, which also stars Sydney Sweeney and Tahar Rahim.

Bob Marley: One Love
The long-awaited biopic for reggae legend Bob Marley hits theaters this month from King Richard director Reinaldo Marcus Green. Kingsley Ben-Adir plays the beloved musician.

Drive-Away Dolls
Ethan Coen returns to the director’s chair for this wily crime caper starring an excellent ensemble of Margaret Qualley, Geraldine Viswanathan, Beanie Feldstein, Colman Domingo, Pedro Pascal, Bill Camp and Matt Damon.
Hopes are high, as we’re always glad to have a new movie from a Coen brother.
