NEW DELHI: The frosty weather in Delhi was always going to test the visiting Tamil Nadu team on the first day of the Ranji Trophy match against Delhi here at the Kotla. However, opening seamer L Vignesh’s suggestion to wear woollen skull caps helped Tamil Nadu not only brave the cold but also end the day on a strong note as Vignesh and his new-ball partner Sandeep Warrier picked up three wickets each to restrict the home team to 212/6.
“We have been here three days, trying to get used to the cold. Vignesh was the one who told everyone that we should cover our ears and wear woollen skull caps. He asked the team management to get a white skull cap so that it doesn’t clash with the red ball,” Warrier, who bowled with cotton plugs in his ears, said after the day’s play.
