Opener Shantanu Mishra scored a fine 89 (213b, 11x4) as Odisha finished at 250 for six on Day One of their Ranji Trophy Group D clash against Mumbai at the Narendra Modi Stadium B ground in Ahmedabad.
Towards the close of play on Thursday, Abhishek Raut (35 not out, 63b, 3x4, 1x6), who played two games for Mumbai in the 2015-16 season and started out with Maharashtra, and Rajesh Mohanty (17 not out) did well to add some useful runs for Odisha. Mumbai would be slightly worried by the fact that Saurashtra, with whom they are engaged in a close tussle to progress to the knockouts, are placed at 343 for seven against Goa. With Odisha likely to put up something in the region of 300, Mumbai need to bat well, and at good pace, to give their bowlers enough time to enforce an outright win in the second innings.
