Ranji Trophy: Mayank Agarwal's century gives Karnataka lead over Gujarat

NEW DELHI: Karnataka captain Mayank Agarwal played a stellar innings, scoring 109 runs, as his team took a 64-run lead on Day 2 of their Ranji Trophy Group C match against Gujarat in Ahmedabad.

After dismissing Gujarat for 263 on the first day, Karnataka reached 328 for five at the end of Day 2, with Manish Pandey contributing an unbeaten 50 and Sujay Sateri on 24. The duo has already built a partnership of 60 runs.

The opening pair of Ravikumar Samarth (60) and Mayank (109) provided Karnataka with a strong start, putting together a partnership of 172 runs. Mayank reached his 16th first-class century off 124 deliveries, featuring 17 fours and a six.

Despite the dismissals of the openers at 172, Devdutt Padikkal (42) and Nikin Jose (22) added 65 more runs before both were also dismissed at 238.

Chintan Gaja took two wickets for Gujarat. The match is finely poised as Karnataka holds a lead with five wickets still in hand.

Goa score a massive 618/7 against Chandigarh

In another Group C match in Porvorim, centuries from Suyash Prabhudessai (197) and Deepraj Gaonkar (115 not out) propelled Goa to a massive 618 for seven against Chandigarh.

Goa resumed the day at 267 for three, with Prabhudessai and Darshan Misal (46) adding 104 for the fourth wicket.
