Rangers yet to send major message as Premiership clubs prepare crisis talks over Sky TV deal

Scottish Premiership clubs will reportedly come together next week for crisis talks in the latest chapter of trying to seal a £150m TV deal - with Rangers yet to provide key information.

The SPFL hierarchy want clubs to convene around the table but alongside Livingston, the Light Blues haven't responded to a 'Qualified Resolution' according to reports - which would remove the necessity for a waiver letter and needs a 11-1 majority. An October 2nd deadline was set, but a meeting is set to come first after a request from SPFL chief from Neil Doncaster after the Ibrox club failed to give the green light for the planned increase of home games broadcast live on Sky to five each season.

The Daily Mail claim it's a decision stemming from the long-running dispute involving Rangers and league sponsors cinch. Sky want to extend their current deal in Scottish football until 2029, and will pay £30m each season to air up 60 games during those campaigns, but it's not been ratified as Rangers and Livingston haven't yet responded.

Managing director at Rangers Stewart Robertson's says the game in this nation isn't getting value for money with broadcasters. He told the Rangers Review: "The one that really stuck with me was Malmo. Their TV deal was more than double the Scottish TV deal.

"You sit with Ajax and Napoli and they are all receiving far more from their TV and sponsorship deals and their league commercial deals as a whole. It puts Scottish clubs at a disadvantage when you are playing other European clubs because you know they are all taking bigger sums out of their leagues and TV deals than we can.

"To highlight the extent of the challenge facing us soon, Liverpool received £151m from the Premier League last season for finishing second and we received £2.7m from the SPFL for finishing second.

"I don't think we sell it. We just go along and nudge it up a little bit. We didn't market-test this deal. We have no idea what else is available in the market, so we don't know whether it's the best deal or not."
