Rangers transfer state of play on Danilo, Zukowski and Sima as 'historic' bid a necessity to land Benie Traore

If transfers makes the world go round then followers of Rangers are in a spin.

The mass exodus of club stalwarts has opened up multiple spots in Michael Beale's first team squad with Dujon Sterling, Kieran Dowell, Jack Butland and Sam Lammers on board. Make room for Abdallah Sima, as well, as the former Slavia Prague is on the verge of becoming the Londoner's fifth capture of the summer. But a focal point at the top end of the pitch appears a certainty with a slew of names linked in recent weeks.

And that appears to be reverberating across the continent with multiple updates on key names in the frame. There are also movement on exits with a fringe player heading for another loan after being unable to make the grade. Record Sport gets you up to speed with what comes next amid the major Rangers restoration project being conducted by Beale.

Benie Traore

Rangers have been told only a "historic bid" will do if they are to tempt Swedish club Hacken to sell their prized asset Benie Traore.

The Ibrox club have been linked with a move for the Ivory Coast striker, who has scored 15 goals in 19 competitive games this season and reports in Sweden have suggested they have already had a £3 million bid turned down, with the Gothenburg club looking for around double that fee. Celtic have also been credited with an interest for the 20-year-old hitman, along with English Premier League new boys Sheffield United.

Hacken's record transfer sale was when they sold Patrik Walemark to Feyenoord two years ago for £3.5 million. And the club's sports director, Martin Ericsson, has made it clear it will need a far higher offer if they are to release their star man. He said: "There is a reasonable chance with us that there will be a sale of Benie in the summer. But it also depends entirely on what offers we receive and it also has to be something very good for us to consider it.

"I will not comment on any exact figure for a sale, but it is clear that it would have to be historic amounts for us. For us, it is a win-win situation because we are in a good position where we can get paid well for our players or we keep them." Hacken were Swedish champions last year and are currently third in the table behind Malmo and Elfsborg.

Danilo

A new name to emerge in Rangers' search for a striker and now Dutch outlet 1908.nl claim the Ibrox side have made a "concrete" offer to land the Feyenoord forward. The 24-year-old was a key contributor for the side which secured Eredivisie glory but has been linked with Ibrox in recent days.

The report states both Feyenoord and Rangers are involved in dialogue for the forward but it's understood multiple names remain in the frame as Michael Beale eyes a forward to join incoming Sima plus summer signing Lammers.

Mateusz Zukowski

Rangers forgotten man Mateusz Zukowski is set to join Slask Wroclaw in a loan move. Zukowski joined the Ibrox side 18 months ago, but he failed to get past James Tavernier or even back-up Adam Devine.

A mixed bag loan spell at Lech Poznan hinted his future at Ibrox looked bleak - but according to Interia Sport, a deal could be done within the next two days on a temporary basis. Dujon Sterling's arrival as back-up to the skipper appears to signal the end of his ill-fated spell in Glasgow.

Abdallah Sima

The versatile forward is nearing a season-long loan at Rangers from Brighton and his former boss is utterly convinced he will establish himself as an Ibrox smash-hit. Jindrich Trpisovsky expects big things.

He said: “We put him on a running programme and when the results came back we discovered he had ran 150 miles in two weeks. He showed stubbornness, determination and a desire to succeed. He picked up English from an African teammate and made significant progress in a month. And he worked so hard during individual training. It was high-intensity.

“You could tell he had the determination to succeed. He got his chance in the first team one day actually because of a Covid outbreak with several players unavailable and he never looked back."
