Rangers transfer state of play as Ridvan Yilmaz 'bid' considered by Besiktas and player gives green light to Ibrox move

Rangers have tabled a £5.4 million bid and offered Besiktas a 20 per cent sell on of any future transfer in a bid to land Ridvan Yilmaz, according to various reports in Turkey. The 21-year-old Turkish international has one year left on his current deal but the Istanbul said were looking for a fee of around £6 million.

Rangers’ Europa League conquerers Eintracht Frankfurt were in for Yilmaz, who played 33 games in all competitions last season, earlier this summer and the player had agreed a move to Germany. However, the clubs couldn’t agree a deal. The Ibrox side’s 'bid’ is said to match that of the Bundesliga side but that the structure of the payments and sell-on clause is making it more attractive to Besiktas and that the player has given the "green light" to a move to Glasgow.

Earlier, it was claimed Besiktas were ready to offer a new contract to Yilmaz, also linked with Torino and Lyon this summer, in a bid to put an end to interest in the player. It was said Besiktas were desperate not to lose an international player who came through their system and are said to have offered both him and goalkeeper Ersin Destanoglu new deals.

However, it’s believed Yilmaz is happy to leave the Turkish giants if the club can agree a deal. Giovanni van Bronckhorst is looking to replace Calvin Bassey following his record breaking move to Ajax and Yilmaz would be another left back option, with Ben Davies also brought in.

At the other end of the pitch, Football Scotland reports that Fashion Sakala is set to snub the chance to leave Ibrox on loan with Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo both admirers of the player. It’s also said Rangers would not consider letting him leave and he will fight for a regular place in the starting XI.

Kemar Roofe was also linked with a loan move away after Derby County were interested in the Jamaica international. However, van Bronckhorst would need to move to replace his place in the squad after some key goals last season.
