Rangers transfer plans detailed by Giovanni van Bronckhorst as he reveals Ianis Hagi injury timeline

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has confirmed Rangers are still busy in the transfer market as he aims to bring in up to TWO more signings this summer.

It was a slow start for the Light Blues with John Souttar's pre-contract arrival from Hearts the only fresh face to arrive until this week with the Ibrox men bringing in two new additions. Antonio Colak - who was a top target this summer - has put pen to paper on a three-year deal from PAOK in a fee close to £2million. He is joined by Tom Lawrence after the ex-Derby midfielder joined the club yesterday on a free.

It's set to be a big couple of weeks at Rangers with their bid to win back the Scottish Premiership title from Celtic kicking off at the end of the month with an away trip to the Tony Macaroni Arena to face Livingston. Champions League qualifiers are also on the horizon with the Light Blues facing two rounds in a bid to reach the lucrative group stages alongside Ange Postecoglou's Hoops next season.

Before the competitive football returns, Rangers face a host of English opposition starting with Sunderland tonight. Van Bronckhorst and Co will get the chance to get minutes into the legs as the Dutchman opened up on his transfer plans for the remainder of the summer.

He said: “We are still busy. I think a couple more, yes. We need to be successful throughout the whole season.

"You saw last season that we were lacking a little bit of depth up front with the strikers that we lost.

“I don’t want to come into another situation where I have to play someone like Joe Aribo as a striker.

“We just need to be prepared for everything that can happen to this club and still have quality.

“More in the attacking positions is the aim.”

One blow for Rangers will be the news that Ianis Hagi is unlikely to return to top team action anytime soon.

Van Bronckhorst expects the long-term absentee to be out until AFTER the World Cup.

He added: “It is an injury that is complicated, and I don’t expect him to be back before the World Cup break.”
