Rangers transfer news bulletin as Jose Cifuentes 'practically agreed' and latest on Danilo

It's being reported in South America that Rangers have now 'practically agreed' a deal to sign Jose Cifuentes from LAFC.

Michael Beale hasn't waited about in strengthening his squad and he's expected to land Cyriel Dessers from Cremonese any time now in what will be his sixth signing of the summer - and his eighth as Rangers boss. But it's expected there will be at least two or three more after Dessers with a new central midfielder high on the list of priorities.

Nicolas Raskin has been a smash hit but Glen Kamara's future has been shrouded in doubt and Ryan Jack's unreliable injury record has often left Beale short of options in that position. And Cifuentes has long been tipped as a potential solution, with his social media activity hinting not-so-subtly that a move is on the cards. The latest on the Ecuador star comes from South American journalist Adriano Savalli who claims personal terms are now "practically agreed."

It's not quite there yet with some negotiations to continue between the clubs but it appears from all sides as if Cifuentes wants the move and his unexplained absence from the squad for their defeat to FC Dallas over the weekend only pours more fuel on the fire.

A new midfielder isn't all Beale wants though as he continues to chase yet another striker. Sam Lammers' arrival is a major boost to their final third options but Antonio Colak isn't fancied while attackers Scott Wright and Rabbi Matondo have been tipped to move on.

And that could clear a path for Feyenoord striker Danilo although recent reports have suggested interest has cooled. Gers are believed to have had one £3.5m rejected for the Brazilian and now The Herald are reporting that the 24-year-old has gone on the backburner for now - although could resurface later in the window.

The other position Beale may be keen to reinforce is at centre-back and Arsenal's Auston Trusty has been one of the most prominently linked. But he's currently away on USA duty and they contest the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup this weekend. The final is on the evening of Sunday July 17 (12.30 AM on Monday UK time) so if all goes to plan for the US then Rangers may have to wait until then for any major developments there.
