Rangers transfer latest amid Tom Lawrence link as Antonio Colak remains on striker search list

Tom Lawrence is the latest striker to be linked with Rangers as they seek to boost their options up front.

The former Derby County star is available on a free transfer as he prepares to leave the financially stricken Rams following their relegation to League One. The Welshman struck 11 times but couldn’t save Wayne Rooney’s men from the drop amid a torrent of money problems and failed takeovers.

The Daily Mai l reports that West Brom are leading the race for his signature, but the Gers have been credited with an interest, along with Sheffield United. However, Record Sport understands Lawrence isn't on Giovanni van Bronckhorst wish list.

The Dutchman does want reinforcements in the striking department however, as Alfredo Morelos enters the final year of his Ibrox deal. Rangers navigated to the Europa League Final but missed the Colombian's cutting edge in the final weeks of the season.

The Scottish Cup winners remain on the trail of Antonio Colak. The 28-year-old Croatian struck twice whilst on loan at Malmo, as the Swedes dumped Rangers out of last season’s Champions League qualifier. But he looks set to leave parent club PAOK after the Greek’s identified Senegalese hitman Keita Balde Diao as a transfer target.

He’s expected to leave Serie A outfit Cagliari this summer, but the Greeks face competition from divisional rivals Sampdoria and a number of Turkish clubs.

If a deal can be done to land Diao, then that could pave the way for Colak to head to Govan. PAOK are thought to want around £2million for the 28-year-old.

However, Fenerbahce are also tracking Colak and are willing to meet the asking price in order to take him to Istanbul.

Sunderland goal getter Ross Stewart remains an option as well. The Scotland striker has been linked with a move back to Scotland after firing the Black Cats to Championship promotion in the play-off final at Wembley.

But the Wearsiders are determined to hang on to their star man and it remains to be seen what kind of cash could tempt them into letting him leave.
