Greek media claim Rangers have made a fresh offer for PAOK striker Antonio Colak. The Croatian forward has emerged as an option for Giovanni van Bronckhorst this summer as he looks to boost his forward line.
Colak tormented Rangers in last season's Champions League qualifiers during a loan spell at Malmo and could find himself back at Ibrox before the transfer window closes. Record Sport revealed earlier this week the 28-year-old was on van Bronckhorst's radar after his side finished last season with no recognised striker amid injuries to both Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe.
Colak could provide the Ibrox boss with an additional option in attack with his club reportedly open to selling him. Greek transfer journalist Georgios Sideridis claims Rangers have raised their offer after having an initial €1.8million bid rejected, but that PAOK will settle for no less than €2.5m for the former Hoffenheim and Rijeka attacker.
It's a claim which has not yet been substantiated by Rangers, who earlier denied reports from Spain that Sevilla had made an €8m bid for Alfredo Morelos. The Colombia international faces a decision over his future in the coming months as he enters the final year of his contract.
Van Bronckhorst, however, is determined to keep him in Glasgow and talks have been held over extending his stay in the Scottish Premiership. Morelos is one of a number of players whose deals will expire at the end of the coming season, with Joe Aribo and Ryan Kent in the same boat.
Meanwhile, former Rangers full-back Alan Hutton insists he'd like to see Amad Diallo return for a second loan spell next season. The Manchester United prospect's impact was minimal following a January move north of the border but Hutton reckons the teenager's potential is such that another stint under Van Bronckhorst should be considered.
Hutton told Football Insider: “I don’t think he reached the heights that a lot of people were expecting. I’m not going to lie – I thought he’d have more of an impact, so I did feel for him.
“He’s obviously come from a big club, and there’s no doubting his talent and we did see it in flashes – I think Ross County away was his first game if memory serves me correct he scored and had some good touches..
“But after that he got thrown into the deep end a little bit against Celtic and he got lost. I don’t think he maybe realised how big a fixture it was.
“I did feel for him because there is a great player there, it’s just about showing it on a consistent basis and I don’t think we quite saw that for someone so young. So it would be nice to see him come back and flourish and show the player he actually can be.”
