Partick Thistle have announced the signing of Rangers forward Tony Weston on a season-long loan deal, with the Ibrox club holding an option to recall in January.
The 18-year-old arrived at Ibrox from Blackpool in 2020 on a three-year contract and scored upwards of 35 goals for the Light Blues' 'B' team during a campaign where they debuted in the Lowland League. He is from the same Huyton area of Liverpool as former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard and has displayed his potential on numerous occasions.
Jags manager Ian McCall has spotted this and swoops to bring him in on a development loan, joining the likes of Auchenhowie academy products Zak Rudden, Lewis Mayo, Rhys Breen and more in recent years to have gone to Partick Thistle on loan. It's been a busy summer so far for the Firhill outfit, who have signed Steven Lawless, Jack McMillan, Harry Milne, David Mitchell, Anton Dowds and Aaron Muirhead, plus more are expected ahead of their Championship campaign.

Last term a top four finish beckoned but they couldn't find a way to navigate through the Premiership play-offs and back to top flight football.
McCall said of his new recruit: “We’ve been looking for another striker to add to our group and we’re very happy to welcome Tony to the club.
"The numbers tell you that he knows where the back of the net is and at just 18, he’ll be keen to come here and impress.
“He certainly offers something completely different to Brian Graham and Anton Dowds. He’s got a bit more pace and agility and I think we need to have that option in the squad. It’ll be a step up for him, without a doubt, but I believe he’ll be able to adapt and be an important player for us.”
