Rangers transfer 'best decision' of James Tavernier's career, says brother

Moving to Rangers has been the best decision of James Tavernier's career his brother Marcus has stated.

The Bournemouth winger insists the support in Scotland is unlike anything he has seen and reckons his brother's move to Ibrox from Wigan was one of the best he's ever made.

Tavernier junior also revealed he watched his older brother in action for Rangers against Celtic in the Scottish Cup back in 2016.

And he was left in awe at the "crazy" atmosphere at Hampden as Rangers claimed a shoot-out win in the semi-finals.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "I've only been to one I believe and they actually won, it was when they played each other in the cup game and they won on penalties.

"I have never experienced anything like that in terms of atmosphere at a game. It's crazy, the fans up there worship the players like they are gods, it's just different.

"That's the best decision he's made in his career moving up there and being a part of it."

And while the brothers aren't close geographically, Marcus insisted the pair remain tight with the Ibrox captain offering advice from his experience in football.

"I feel like he has been a big part of my journey and my career to date," said the Bournemouth player. "He's been through a lot of things so he's been able to help me before I have had to go through them myself.

"He's been the biggest support for me. When things haven;t been going my way he is normally the first person I call or the first person I message to get his advice. He has been great on that side."
