Rangers team news v St Mirren confirmed as Kent and Morelos call made with Sakala handed chance

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has named his Rangers team to face St Mirren in today’s huge Premiership clash.

Rangers will face Stephen Robinson’s Saints who arrive at Ibrox the best of the rest having won five out of their past six games – including a massive win over Celtic. Giovanni van Bronckhorst has named a strong starting line up as Rangers hope to continue their unbeaten run at Ibrox.

Van Bronckhorst has made a huge call to drop Ryan Kent to the bench, with Rabbio Matondo and Fashion Sakala instead the chosen wide-men with Antonio Colak upfront. Ben Davies is given his second league start in a row following his impressive first half display at Tynecaslte. Leon King drops to the bench despite his impressive performance at Anfield. Ryan Jack, John Lundstram and Scott Arfield make up the midfield.

Rangers will hope to keep the pressure on Celtic as they face up to the Saints from Paisley who currently sit third. Giovanni van Bronckhorst has called on his side to learn from another disappointing Champions League experience after their 2-0 loss against Liverpool at Anfield.

Speaking ahead of the match Van Bronckhorst said: “I think we keep improving in the Champions League level if you look at our games from our first game against Ajax (4-0) until the game against Liverpool (2-0).

“As a team we will become stronger and that is really good to take back to the league and domestic cup competitions.

"I think they've [St Mirren] had a great start to the season. They're on a very good run and have had great results lately.

"They're a very recognisable team in the way they play, very aggressive, they have a lot of runners from midfield and are really strong in the transition moments.

"Defensively they are really compact. If you are third in the league, it means you have started the season well, so credit to St Mirren."

Rangers XI: McGregor, Davies, Goldson, Barisic, Tavernier, Lundstram, Arfield, Jack, Matondo, Fashion Jr, Colak
