Rangers super sub Arfield hails Beale 'mentality' impact after Aberdeen comeback

SCOTT ARFIELD reckons Michael Beale has helped Rangers rediscover their mojo after his late heroics earned a last-gasp win over Aberdeen.

The midfielder was thrown on after an hour with Rangers trailing in the second half. But Arfield changed things dramatically in the final moments with his stoppage-time double.

"I'm just trying to catch my breath a bit here," joked Arfield in a post-match interview on Sky Sports. We conceded the goal and we had to be right at it."

The Ibrox fan favourite went on to admit the mentality at the club had perhaps slipped earlier this season but insisted Beale has quickly built-up confidence in the squad.

"It was a big mentality week, two tough away fixtures (Ross County on Friday). It was important we started on the right note so to get the three points is huge."

"I hope so," said Arfield of the win displaying the newfound character in the Rangers squad. "I hope so when it comes to the end of the season. Certainly, since the manager has come in that is what he has installed straight away from his first day.

"He knows what ability we have got, maybe we came off it mentality-wise a little bit but it was all about starting the week on the right note. If you win the game in the first five minutes or you win it in the last five minutes, it's still the same three points so it was very important."

On his double, Arfield commented: "Ryan does brilliantly, it's all about following shots in, luckily one fell. Then in the last minute Connor (Goldson) tries to control it and he left it to me so I was happy to put that in."
