Rangers star Nicolas Raskin in Belgium 'small injury' statement as he roars: 'I'll be back soon'

Nicolas Raskin has confirmed he has a small injury issue and WON'T play for Belgium Under-21s during the international break.

The Rangers January recruit did not feature in the Premiership outing at Motherwell as Michael Beale maintained his unbeaten league run as Ibrox gaffer. His side showed their powers of recovery once again to respond from going a goal down to run out 4-2 winners in a thrilling contest at Fir Park. Skipper James Tavernier grabbed his 98th goal for the club while Fashion Sakala, Todd Cantwell and the returning Malik Tillman also got in on the act.

The result leaves the Light Blues still nine points behind Celtic at the Premiership summit going into the international break after Ange Postecoglou's table toppers responded from a set-back of their own to defeat ten-man Hibs 3-1 at Parkhead.

A host of players from across the two clubs and the Scottish top flight will now head out to represent their countries across all different age levels - but Raskin has confirmed he will NOT be in action with a small online statement. Uploading an image of him playing for his country, he wrote: "Unfortunately I will not be playing for Belgium U-21 in the upcoming two matches due to a small injury. I'll be back soon!"

Speaking last week ahead of the trip to Motherwell, Beale said: "Nico has a slight issue, he missed training [on Thursday]. Other than that, Malik [Tillman] has had another week Soutts [John Souttar] has had another week.

"We’ll have to leave a couple out. With Nico we’ll see how he is [on Friday].

"He had a bit of an issue with his quad after the game the other day, but we don’t think it is anything major.

"It is touch and go. We’ll see and if there is any risk it will be a no, but at the moment it is quite promising that he will be OK."
