It was a tournament that many thought was Allan McGregor's Rangers swansong when he was introduced late on during the extra time win over Hearts at Hampden last May.
But that proved to be premature as the veteran shot-stopper returned for more this season, penning a one year extension at Ibrox. However, if Rangers can retain the silverware they won last season then this time it would almost certainly be his last act at Ibrox.
That, of course, is assuming McGregor plays. It's hard to second guess who is going to start between the sticks these days with Michael Beale opting to chop and change between both McGregor and Jon McLaughlin. He's even promised to give Robby McCrorie a chance when he returns from injury.
McLaughlin started the midweek win over Kilmarnock but didn't look too clever when he conceded the opening goal of the game. That is likely to see McGregor return for the Scottish Cup trip to McDiarmid Park, although Beale might well have opted for that change anyway.
Malik Tillman came off the bench in the 3-2 win in Ayrshire and is another who could be back in the XI for the Perth clash as Rangers look to secure their place in the last 16 and put the nightmare of defeat on their last trip firmly behind them.
