Rangers' players rated as they lift Scottish Cup with victory over Hearts

Rangers' players rated as they lift Scottish Cup with victory over Hearts

Jon McLaughlin 6

Had almost nothing to do all game.

James Tavernier 7

Had joy down the right side, with spaces appearing in early stages. A quieter game than usual, but fitness levels on point once again.

Connor Goldson 7

Solid enough but didn’t have his busiest game. Signing off with a cup win.

Leon Balogun 7

Certainly had his hands full up against Simms and Boyce. The former got the better of him on a few occasions. Inches away from scoring winner in last-10 with powerful header.

Calvin Bassey 9

Lucky to escape a nasty injury after dangerous tackle from Haring. Took a dive in the box as Collum waved away penalty claims. Flashed two dangerous balls in first-half just asking to be nodded home. Superb solo run and effort but well saved. Crossing throughout was exceptional. MOTM.

Steven Davis 5

Tried to make things happen but struggled to get his foot on the ball, he wasn’t alone in that, though.

John Lundstram 7

Stroked the ball about nicely and kept things moving in midfield in usual controlled fashion.

Scott Arfield 6

Had some joy down Hearts’ left. Delayed crosses a bit too long.

Joe Aribo 7

Couldn’t quite divert his first-half header on target after a brilliant near-post run. Didn’t get enough power on it. Gordon saved well from his low shot which was goal-bound. Bad miss inside six-yard box with a header.

Ryan Kent 7

Had huge chance after terrific run and touch down from long-ball, but Gordon was off his line quickly to foil him.

Amad Diallo 6

Looked bright in opening stages. Got on the end of a wicked ball from the left, but couldn’t keep header down at back-post. Subbed off before possibly being sent off as he appeared to get heated with the officials.

Subs:

Scott Wright (for Diallo, 62’) 8

Made some great driving runs, committing defenders. Clipped bar with a header. Drilled finish to secure the cup.

Ryan Jack (for Davis, 80’) 8

A thunderous finish to become the hero in extra-time. What a hit, son.

Glen Kamara (for Arfield, 80’) 4

Kept the ball.

Fashion Sakala (for Aribo, 105’) 2

On for final stages.

Allan McGregor (for McLaughlin, 118’) 1

On for potential send-off.
