Rangers player ratings vs PSV as Champions League dream still firmly on ahead of Netherlands trip

Rangers and PSV are set for a huge showdown in the Netherlands next week after a four-goal thriller at Ibrox.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst and countryman Ruud van Nistelrooy will both be desperate to land a spot in the Champions League group stages - but know it won't come easy with both sides showing real quality in this tie.

Ibrahim Sangaré opened the scoring after a scramble in the Rangers box following a corner. However, the advantage lasted just three minutes as Antonio Colak superbly turned home James Tavernier's low cross to send the home fans wild. It's a fourth goal in four games for the summer signing as he continues his fine run of form for his new club.

Tom Lawrence then fired home from a long-range free-kick after a howler from Walter Benitez in the Dutch goal to give the Light Blues the advantage but Armando Obispo headed home from a corner to spare his team-mates blushes in the Ibrox downpour.

Here is how we rated the Rangers players in tonight's first-leg tie

Jon McLaughlin - 6

Huge save with eight minutes left on the clock. Stood no chance with Ibrahim Sangaré or Armando Obispo goals.

James Tavernier - 7

Another assist from the skipper as he set up Antonio Colak with a brilliant low cross. Leading by example once again on the big stage. Always getting forward to join the attack where possible.

Connor Goldson - 6

Defended well for the majority of the game. One rare moment he was beaten early in second half but Ismael Saibari fired just wide. Should have done better at PSV's leveller. Booked.

James Sands - 6

Growing into the role of centre-back with Goldson. Missed weekend win over St Johnstone through illness but returned with calm display. Natural midfielder played out of position.

Borna Barisic - 6

Tough night for the left-back. Stuck to the task at hand.

Steven Davis - 7

Brings a real calmness to the middle of the park. Always looking to get on the ball with short, sharp pass and moves. Stunning ball to Tav in build-up to goal. Continues to ooze class at the age of 37. Replaced with 20 minutes to play by Glen Kamara.

John Lundstram - 6

Constant closing down and hard work in the midfield. Never one to shy away.

Malik Tillman - 6

Slow start but grew into the game. Confident on the ball. One heart in mouth moment with a fresh air swipe at a corner in the first half. Tired towards the final stages. Replaced after 70 minutes.

Tom Lawrence - 7

Hard-working display. An excellent tackle on Cody Gakpo in the first period after he skipped past James Tavernier. Scored Rangers' second with a free-kick from distance after a howler from PSV No1 Walter Benitez.

Ryan Kent - 7

Back in after a rest against St Johnstone. Always a threat with pace and direct running. Some excellent bits of skill. Will have a major say in Rangers' hopes of qualifying.

Antonio Colak - 7

Tough task up top. Ran himself into the ground closing down the PSV defenders. Excellent low finish to turn home James Tavernier's cross. Denied a second from a smart save. Four goals in four games for the big summer signing. Gave his all for the team.

SUBS

Glen Kamara - 3

Replaced Davis for final 20 minutes. No real involvement in closing stages.

Scott Wright - 3

On for Tillman for the final period. Quiet run out.
