Rangers player ratings vs Livingston as Nicolas Raskin shines and James Tavernier nets brace

A James Tavernier double helped Rangers to a battling victory over Livingston at the Tony Macaroni stadium.

Nicolas Raskin was handed his first Scottish Premiership start as the Belgian midfielder got more crucial minutes under his belt. With Mailk Tillman out injured, Fashion Sakala was opted on the right and the Zambian should have opened the scoring when he latched onto an Alfredo Morelos cross only to be caught offside.

After early pressure Rangers took the lead before the half hour mark when a VAR call ruled that Morelos jersey had been pulled. James Tavernier stepped up to slot home after a lengthy delay. The first half fizzled out with Rangers struggling to create more chances. Rangers came out in the second half with plenty of intent as they chased a second. Roofe was sent on to help the cause and provided an instant threat.

Michael Beale's men then sealed the three points when Tavernier stepped up after Roofe was fouled just outside the box. Despite the difficult angle, the captain fired a strike for the second time past Shamal George before Roofe added a third with a late strike after the ball was kept alive from a corner. Here is how we rated the Ibrox men as they continue to win on the road.

Allan McGregor - 5

Rarely tested. Comfortable afternoon in between the sticks.

James Tavernier - 8

Got himself forward to create chances sent Livi goalkeeper George the wrong way with a finely taken penalty. Doubled Rangers lead with a stunning free kick.

Connor Goldson - 7

Marshalled Nouble well as he used his experience to handle the Livingston target man, caught sleeping at long throw in the first half as Livingston created their best chance.

Ben Davies - 8

Doubled up on Nouble along with Goldson as the pairing continued another solid display. Displayed no nonsense defending needed to get out of the Tony Macaroni with all three points.

Borna Barisic - 6

Got himself forward and plenty of dangerous crosses without anyone getting on the end of them.

Glen Kamara - 7

Got forward in support of Rangers attacking threats. Dynamic performance similar to his impressive Tynecastle display. Showed improvements in recent weeks.

Nicloas Raskin - 9

Handed first Premiership start as he looks to get game time under his belt. Controlled the tempo for Rangers, picking the ball from deep and dictating play. Some fine passes on display from the Belgian.

Todd Cantwell - 6

Grafted to latch onto Livi mistakes, composed on the ball without creating anything clear cut. Lost possession in key areas which on another day could have been punished.

Fashion Sakala - 8

Goal disallowed after being caught offside. Threatened with his pace and movement. A real livewire.

Ryan Kent - 7

Continued to operate in a free role, caused problems with switch of play, unlucky with a penalty shout after being fouled by Livingston captain Devlin.

Alfredo Morelos - 6

Industrious performance, used his strength to cope with physicality of Livingston defence. Failed to create any real chances.

Subs

Kemar Roofe - 5

A welcome return for the Rangers striker who bounced back from more time on the side lines. Roofe made an instant impact from the bench, dragging a shot just wide as Rangers looked to kill the game.

Antonio Colak - 3

Late sub for Alfredo Morelos.

Bailey Rice - 3

The 16-year-old was given the nod as a late sub for Kamara. His debut for Rangers.

Scott Wright - 3

Brought on for Ryan Kent.

James Sands - 3

Late sub as part of triple change as the game fizzled out.
