Rangers player ratings vs Hearts as Malik Tillman and Ryan Kent play major roles in Ibrox winner

Malik Tillman was the hero for Rangers as they grabbed a vital 1-0 win over Hearts and three points for Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

The fan pressure on the Dutchman was huge going into this one with Hearts after falling seven points behind Celtic in the race for the title following Sunday's defeat at St Johnstone. Simply, this was a game the home side could not afford to lose and after the disappointment of the weekend, they managed to bounce back and claim a massive victory.

It may have not been a vintage performance at times but the Rangers players and staff will welcome a return to winning ways that keeps them ticking towards the World Cup break with one final fixture to come. After that lots of work on the training ground will be required and recovery period for key stars to get themselves fit for the second half of the season. But for now, a sigh of relief for all involved at the Ibrox side. Here's how we rated the home side.

Allan McGregor - 6

Huge moment early on as he raced out to deny Josh Ginnelly. A few defensive clearances. Not overly tested.

James Tavernier - 5

Quiet night for the skipper. Not his normal free-flowing attacking self.

Leon King - 6

In for his seventh start on the bounce. Improving game on game in what has been a tough period for Rangers. Will only do the youngster the world of good as time goes on. Booked for lunge.

Ben Davies - 5

Caught out by Josh Ginelly's pace after five minutes. Big let off. World Cup break will come as a huge benefit to get back to full fitness after a number of niggles.

Borna Barisic - 6

Going to the World Cup and showed a confident enough performance. Most of his work was going forward. Booked.

James Sands - 5

Set up Rangers' first chance with a good break up in play. Back in his natural midfield position. Took a sore one. Hooked at half-time.

John Lundstram - 5

Inches away from scoring the opener after a fast Rangers break. Quiet from his standards.

Malik Tillman - 7

Big chance to pull the trigger inside first minute but took a heavy touch. Showed flashes of brilliance. Denied early in second half from quick reaction save. Grabbed the all important goal.

Rabbi Matondo - 6

Left out Wales' World Cup squad. Full of pace and skills. Slow start to life at Ibrox but made a bright start in this game before fizzling out. Subbed on the hour.

Ryan Kent - 7

A much brighter performance. When he ran at Michael Smith got plenty of success. Brilliant work in build-up to goal. Needs to show that quality much more. Booked.

Antonio Colak - 5

A couple of half chances for the top scorer but Craig Gordon denied him with some simple saves. Another blank for the hitman.

Scott Arfield - 6

On at the break. Helped push Rangers forward. Experienced head in the changing room.

Scott Wright - 4

Looked bright after replacing Rabbi Matondo. Good energy and pace.

Alfredo Morelos - 4

Chance at back post from stunning Ryan Kent ball across goal but well defended. Had big chance after Malik Tillman cross but never connected properly.

Glen Kamara - 2

On for last five minutes. No real impact.
