Michael Beale got his Rangers managerial era up and running as his side defeat Bayer Leverkusen at Ibrox.
The home side looked much quicker in their build-up play as they got the new boss off to the perfect start with a 3-0 win over their Bundesliga opponents. Malik Tillman's double from two excellent James Tavernier crosses and Scott Arfield's late strike secured the bragging rights with all focus now turning towards the Premiership resumption with Hibs making the trip to Govan for a Thursday night game under the lights next week. There was even time for the skipper to hit the frame of the goal with a late spot-kick.
Beale challenged the players to show their desire and want to remain part of his Ibrox adventure and a number of stars did their chances no harm of staking a claim under the 42-year-old for the visit of Lee Johnson's men and going forward. As promised he used his squad with a raft of changes at the break for the home side. Here's how we rated the home side at a chilly Ibrox.

Allan McGregor - 6
A big diving save to deny Jonathan Tah early on from a corner. Always reliable and will no doubt remain as No. 1 Big player during Beale's previous stint and will have a big say in any Rangers success this term.
James Tavernier - 8
Stunning assist for Tillman's opener and grabbed a second from a corner. Looked much more like his old attacking self. Incredible block to deny the visitors with 15 to play. Fired a late penalty off the frame of the goal.
Leon King - 6
Returned to action after a concussion blow pre-World Cup. Big season to date and will hope for further chances and top team minutes in the new regime. Defended well.
James Sands - 6
Back in the centre-back role with injuries still a concern in that area of the pitch. Has grown into the role with each passing game.
Adam Devine - 6
Big day for the youngster with Ridvan Yilmaz injured and Borna Barisic still at the World Cup. Did his chances of a start vs Hibs next midweek no harm.
Ryan Jack - 6
Calm and composed figure in the middle of the park. Willing to run beyond and help in the attack.
Glen Kamara - 6
Huge player for Rangers during Michael Beale's spell as Steven Gerrard's No. 2 Recalled from the off after a bit-part season under Giovanni van Bronckhorst. Showed desire and worked hard.
Malik Tillman - 8
An excellent finish from James Tavernier's cross as he hits first goal of the new era. Has clear ability and class. Second goal was a bullet header from a corner. Could be a major player for Beale.
Rabbi Matondo - 6
Slow start to life as a Rangers player but this is a fresh start and a chance to show why he was brought to the club and has landed big transfer moves in his time. Full of pace and skill and looked dangerous. Close to a goal.
Ryan Kent - 5
His Rangers future will dominate until it is decided either way. Like the first half of the campaign, not very effective in this one. Has bags of quality that he must show regularly.
Antonio Colak - 5
Very quiet afternoon for the top goalscorer. No real sniffs at goal or key involvements.
Subs
Alfredo Morelos - 6
Like Kent, his future is dominating the headlines. A poor season to date by his standards and will be hoping a change in management can spark his campaign into life. Showed his power and strength to win a spot-kick late on. Set up Arfield for his strike.
Fashion Sakala - 4
Vented his frustrations when Arfield elected to shoot rather than lay the ball to the side for a certain goal. Bags of pace. Subbed off after 25 minutes of action in the second period.
Scott Arfield - 6
Really should have scored 10 minutes into the second half. Got on the end of a pace but struck at keeper. Always gives 100 per cent. Got a goal late on.
Scott Wright - 5
Another who will be looking for a more consistent run of starts. Was recruited under the previous regime of Gerrard and Beale. New boss will know his strengths and weaknesses.
Steven Davis - 6
The veteran never looks out of place. Controls the tempo of the game. Sets high standards and is always looking for the ball. One of the experienced heads and vital to the team.
John Lundstram - 6
Looked to play a more attacking role than we've been used to seeing him lately. Be interesting to see how he is utilised by Beale going forward.
Jon McLaughlin - 5
Quiet second period for the Rangers No. 2 Will look to push Allan McGregor all the way.
Alex Lowry - 3
Back from injury and one who will be determined to impress Beale and get more first team minutes. A big talent with a huge future. A 20 minute cameo and inches away from a goal within seconds.
Charlie McCann - 2
On for the final 10 minutes. Already tasted some first-team football this season.
Robbie Fraser - 2
Like McCann, a late appearance on a comfortable afternoon for the home side.
