Rangers player ratings v St Mirren as Celtic gain another title boost despite Kent's best efforts

Rangers drew 1-1 n their latest Premiership match against St Mirren.

A victory was targeted in one final match before the World Cup break. and they had opportunities to do so early on. Scott Wright missed two decent chances and Malik Tillman will also feel he should have done better with a shot inside the opening 30 minutes.

That was the story of their 2-1 loss to St Johnstone last weekend and after missing key chances, they were punished with a Jonathan Ayunga goal for the home side. Ryan Kent then went down in the box and after a VAR check, referee Kevin Clancy went to check the monitor, and a penalty was awarded. They pushed for a winner but ahead of Celtic hosting Ross County, the Light Blues now trail by six points in the title race. Here is how we rated the Rangers players in Paisley.

Allan McGregor - 6

Not a whole lot to do other than pick the ball out his net.

James Tavernier - 6

Stepped up to score a crucial penalty. Defensively got sucked into the physical battle but stepped up when team needed him.

Leon King - 5

A physical challenge for him up against Ayunga and Main. Has to make a clearance before the goal and positioning was off. Hopefully injury isn't as bad as it looks.

James Sands - 5

Dropped back into centre-back with Ben Davies out. Caught out on a few occasions and given plenty of problems by the home side's physical front two.

Borna Barisic - 5

World Cup-bound after this. Switched off on occasion but a couple of fine passes forward mixed with a few wayward just about summed him up at the minute. There's quality there, but when you get it is unknown.

Glen Kamara - 5

Back into the starting XI for the first time since September. Looked really comfortable on the ball so his omission from this at half-time was puzzling.

John Lundstram - 6

The link man from defence to midfield but a few stray passes involved. Didn't do anything particularly wrong although some moves were sideways instead of forward.

Malik Tillman - 5

Made a great opening early doors but couldn't find the target. Few flashes but faded in and out the game.

Scott Wright - 6

Denied an early goal by a strong save from Buddies goalkeeper Trevor Carson and another driving run was unfortunate not to provide reward. Fizzled out.

Ryan Kent - 7

Built on his second half against Hearts where he was a lot more positive. A few driving runs at the box and won the penalty which proved key to them getting something. Almost scored a superb solo goal late on.

Alfredo Morelos - 4

Handed a chance with Antonio Colak injured. First touch was often heavy and offered next to no threat. A shadow of the player he once was.

Scott Arfield - 5

Brought for Kamara at the break. The Finnish international's job was mainly on the ball so bringing on somebody who does their best work off it was odd.

Ryan Jack - 4

Brought on for the injured King. Making his way back from injury and will be better for more minutes.

Robbie Ure - 3

Brought on in stoppage time as the youngster gets more valuable first-team minutes.
