A minute’s applause will be held at Ibrox tonight in memory of tragic Rangers fan Tyler Green after he lost his brave cancer battle. The Glasgow rapper will be hailed during the 22 minute mark of the Gers’ home game against Hibernian FC on Thursday.
The talented drill artist passed away on Saturday just months after being told his previously diagnosed bone cancer had spread to his lungs. The 22-year-old was one half of rap duo Triple01s - who filmed the video for their latest track at Ibrox Stadium - and had recently signed a deal with Warner Records.
In a social media post, Rangers FC wrote: "Please join us for a minute's applause on the 22nd minute to remember 22-year-old Rangers fan Tyler Green who tragically passed away earlier this week." Tyler died peacefully at the Marie Curie hospice, in Springburn, on Saturday, December 10, with family by his side.
Tyler's childhood friend Ross Hamill told Glasgow Live: "He was brilliant, he always had a smile on his face even with the news that he got. He made sure everyone else was happy and doing okay before himself.
"He was the person to light up the room and one of those people you could always go and speak to whenever there was a problem. He’d make sure you were okay. He was very inspirational and someone I looked up to.
"He did the things he wanted to do before he went and travelled to places where he wanted to go. During our teenage years I was with him nearly every day. I’m going to miss him being there and messaging him whenever I’m feeling down.
“I’ll miss seeing his smile, he was one of the happiest boys I knew.”
Ross is planning on running a 100km run or walk to raise money for Marie Curie who supported Tyler and his family through the cancer diagnosis and treatment. The Go Fund Me page has already reached £1,615 so far.
