Rangers midfielder Steven Davis closing in on new Ibrox deal

Steven Davis is closing in on agreeing a new deal at Rangers.

The 37-year-old midfielder - who is currently on international duty with Northern Ireland - is expected to sign an Ibrox extension imminently.

Davis is keen to play on and there have been very positive discussions that will keep him in light blue.

It is expected that the former Southampton man will pen a one year extension.

Davis, who is in his second spell with the club, missed parts of last season through injury but got over them and played his part in the Scottish Cup win and in the run to the Europa League final.

Motherwell and St Mirren were both keen on the experienced midfielder but they look set to be disappointed.

Davis is a big influence for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s squad on and off the park and it is likely to be the same next season, even if he doesn’t play as much, reports the Daily Record.

Veteran keeper Allan McGregor is taking time out to decide if he will continue playing next season.

Rangers are also in talks with Leon Balogun while Connor Goldson looks likely to depart on freedom of contract.
