Rangers 'linked' with raid on Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa for striker Cameron Archer

Rangers have been linked with a move for Cameron Archer from Aston Villa, according to a report.

The 20-year-old impressed last season out on loan with Preston North End in the English Championship and has a number of clubs keen on his services.

talkSPORT 's Alex Crook reports that Rangers and Giovanni van Bronckhorst are one of those as they look to add more firepower to the Ibrox frontline.

The hitman scored seven goals in 20 appearances in England's second tier and the Light Blues could look to snap him up from former boss Steven Gerrard.

It's reported that Middlesbrough and Watford are also in the hunt.

Rangers have already brought in John Souttar following his pre-contract move from Hearts.
