Rangers legend Paul Gascoigne to appear on Channel 4 reality TV show 'Scared of the Dark'

Rangers legend Paul Gascoigne is set to appear on Channel 4's upcoming reality TV show, Scared of the Dark.

With a host of stars set to spend a week together in complete darkness, rigged with 50 infrared cameras, Gazza will take part in the series alongside The Wanted's Max George, former Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt, Olympic boxing hero and Strictly star Nicola Adams as well as ex-boxer Chris Eubank - to name a few.

According to Channel 4, the six-part series follows eight celebrities who are stepping into the unknown on the ultimate journey by entering a completely pitch-black reality space for eight days.

Hosted by Danny Dyer, the reality show follows the celebs who are living in The Bunker, a purpose-built living space designed to block out any light and rigged with 50 infrared cameras.

Over five successive nights the show will follow the celebrities as they get to grips with living in the dark. To leave The Bunker the celebrities must simply shout “I’m Scared of The Dark” and they are escorted into the light.

To prove their mettle, each of the celebrities will take on a series of challenges designed to test either their primal fear of total darkness or their ability to function in the pitch black. Those that fail at their challenges will have to take on herculean tasks to save their place on the show.

Each celebrity will be motivated to conquer their fears because at the end only one will step out into the light as series winner.

Upon hearing his pal entering the show, old pal Ally McCoist joked about him being on the show during an interview with talkSPORT Breakfast Show saying: "My initial reaction is that he's ticked the wrong box.

"He's been looking at three or four programmes and he's put a tick in the wrong box. Mind you, it'll be a good watch.

"I'd watch him anywhere, never mind in a dark room."

The Gers star then added: "So what a minute? You need to explain this. He's going to be in no light for seven days?

"I would have to say, I'm serious, I don't think that would be good."

Speaking about hosting the show Danny Dyer said: “This is possibly one of the most bizarre things I’ve ever done in my career, and I have done a lot of mad things.

"Throw in a bunch of celebs and make them do things with the lights off – it’s proper good telly. You’re gonna laugh, you’re gonna laugh some more and I promise you’re gonna love it”

The celebrities entering into the dark are

  • Retired pro-boxer Nicola Adams
  • Reality star Chloe Burrows
  • Professional Boxer Chris Eubank
  • Former Professional Footballer Paul Gascoigne
  • Singer and actor Max George
  • Comedian Chris McCausland
  • TV personality Scarlett Moffatt
  • Actress Donna Preston

Gazza will appear on the Channel 4 reality show in Spring 2023. When a confirmed date is announced, we’ll let you know.
