Rangers issue Celtic 'apology' after Ibrox flashpoints as Parkhead figure reveals post derby talks

Celtic's supporter liaison officer John-Paul Taylor has revealed Rangers issued an apology to their rivals after a series of shocking incidents blighted the derby clash at Ibrox.

The fallout from the 2-1 victory for Ange Postecoglou's side has been rumbling on since Sunday's clash after ugly scenes during the top of the table showdown.

The second half of the powderkeg fixture was delayed by three minutes after Joe Hart alerted Willie Collum and stewards that his goal mouth was covered in shards.

And another incident came to light at full-time as a member of the Celtic staff was hit with a bottle during the derby clash.

Police Scotland have launched an investigation into the incident and Rangers have stated they are reviewing stadium CCTV to find the culprits.

Nicola Sturgeon has also been among those to slam the actions, with the First Minister branding the behaviour "thuggish."

Taylor has now confirmed that Rangers have said sorry to their city rivals following the game.

When asked on Twitter if Rangers apologised, the Celtic SLO replied: "Yes, they did."
