Rangers 'in talks' with Alfredo Morelos over new contract with Ibrox star entering final 12 months

Rangers are in talks with Alfredo Morelos over fresh terms, according to a report.

The fans' favourite has just 12 months remaining on his current deal with other key stars like Ryan Kent, Joe Aribo and Ryan Jack in the same situation.

Morelos has been a vital player for Rangers since his arrival at the club from HJK Helsinki netting 113 goals in 224 appearances in all competitions.

The Colombian - who is currently recovering from injury - rediscovered some of his best form under Giovanni van Bronckhorst before missing the end of the campaign in a major blow to the Ibrox side.

But Rangers Review reports that Rangers want to agree a new deal with Morelos to keep him at club beyond next summer.

Scotland and Sunderland striker Ross Stewart has been rumoured as a potential replacement for Morelos.

But the same publication state that Van Bronckhorst has had the ex-Ross County striker watched and is on the radar but any move would coincide with attempts to keep Morelos.

Rangers have already brought in John Souttar this summer following his pre-contract arrival from Hearts.

Connor Goldson also handed the Light Blues a major pre-season boost by penning a new long-term deal with the club while Steven Davis has also opted to extend his stay by another year.
